Cambridge Architectural, an active member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the world’s most experienced – and only full-service provider – of functional and visually intriguing metal fabric solutions, remains committed to its pledge to promote methods, technologies and products that result in sustainable building projects. Each of Cambridge’s six architectural mesh applications serves a different function in realizing sustainable building design. For example, a Cambridge Solucent™ mesh solution conserves energy and significantly reduces solar glare, light pollution and solar heat gain, while promoting airflow and building security. Cambridge architectural mesh offers solutions that reduce building costs and, because of its light weight and flexible design, uses less material, producing significantly less waste than most traditional building materials. Widely known for its functionality, durability and distinctive look, Cambridge woven metal fabric is a sustainable building material that reduces environmental strain. Additionally, Cambridge’s manufacturing processes meet or exceed standards for safety, storm/ground water protection, resource management, wastewater reduction and raw material recycling. Stainless steel also requires minimal maintenance and cleaning after installation, with its life cycle far outlasting that of alternative products. Even the manufacturing process for architectural mesh applications, a cold forming process, creates a lower environmental impact than the process for heat treated products. Cambridge also continues to develop and promote architectural mesh applications that will meet the most current credit requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building and Sustainable Design Rating System, specifically in the New Construction (NC) category. Because many credit categories require integration with other products, Cambridge also provides consultation and direction on a project-by-project basis to maximize LEED-NC credits.
